The Ministry of Health’s Vector Control Unit will continue its fogging programme in St. Michael and Christ Church next week, as part of its continuing efforts to reduce the presence of the deadly aedes aegypti mosquito on the island.
Fogging starts in St. Michael on Monday, February 20, when Lower Collymore Rock, Jemmotts Lane, Woodside Gardens, Beckles Hill, St. Paul’s Avenue, Dunlow Lane, Henry’s Lane, Culloden Road, Lawrence Avenue, Fairview Place, Alleynes Avenue, Grants Avenue, Walcott Avenue, Old Quarry Avenue, Gay Gardens 1st & 2nd Avenue, Beckles Hill, Lakes Avenue, Palm Tree Avenue, Brownes Avenue, Gittens, Clarkes Avenue, Curwens Avenue, Gully Field Avenue, Jessamine Avenue, Sand Box Avenue, Upper Bay Street, Bedford Avenue, Chelston Gardens and the surrounding areas will be fogged.
The following day, Tuesday, February 21, the team will move to Pine Road, Upper Collymore Rock, Lower Collymore Rock, Prince Gap, Pine North South Road, Pine Gardens 1st & 2nd Avenue, Pine Plantation Road, Pine Hill Road, Erdiston Hill, Government Hill, Belleville, George Street, Belmont Road, Stevenson Road, Campaign Land, Bannister Land, Delaware Land, Martindales Road and the adjacent districts in St. Michael.?? ??????????
On Wednesday, February 22, fogging will be done in the City in the areas surrounding Bay Street, Nelson Street, Combermere Street, Wellington Street, Pondside, Spruce Street, Vine Street, Queen Street, Beckwith Street, Cyprus Street, River Road, Church Village, Gills Road, Queen’s Park, Greenfield, Crumpton Street, Ellis Village and Constitution Road.
Efforts to eliminate the mosquito will see the unit moving to Christ Church the following day, Thursday, February 23.?? On that day, Newton Terrace, Newton Crescent, Lodge Road with Gaps, Church Hill, Thornbury Hill, Durant’s Development and the neighbouring districts are scheduled to be fogged.
The team will return to St. Michael on Friday, February 24, where Brandons, Birds River, Deacons Farm, Brighton, Deacons Road, Rosemont, Black Rock Main Road, Ashdeane Village, Carlton Road and the environs will be visited.
Fogging will begin at 4:30 and end at 7:30 p.m. each day, and householders are asked to assist in the elimination of the deadly aedes aegypti mosquito by opening windows and doors to allow the fog to penetrate.
Persons with respiratory problems should protect themselves from inhaling the fog, while pedestrians and motorists must proceed with caution when encountering fogging operations on the street.
Parents are advised to prohibit their children from playing in the fog or running behind the fogging machine.
