As the Vector Control Unit of the Ministry of Health seeks to reduce the incidence of dengue fever and its carrier, the aedes egypti mosquito, a number of areas will be fogged next week.
On Monday, December 3, Pickering, Durhams, Rock Hall, Josey Hill, Mount Gay Tenantry, Mount View Drive, Lowlands, Rockfield, Bishops Tenantry, and Pie Corner all in St. Lucy will be treated.
The following day, Tuesday, December 4, the team will move to the St. Philip neighbourhoods of Long Bay, Long Bay Development, Belair, Belair Cross Road, Crane, and Crane Development.
Vineyard, Padmore Village, Bushy Park, Parish Land, Church Village, Marchfield, Gaskin Land, Harrow, Hothersal and the surrounding areas, also in St. Philip, will be fogged on Wednesday, December 5.
The following day, Thursday, December 6, the Unit will move to St. Peter and treat Cemetery Lane, Road View, Sweet Home Gap, Gibbs, Mullins, Lower Bakers, Lower Carlton, 1st to 4th Avenue Carlton Road and the environs.
Fogging for the week will culminate in St. Michael on Friday, December 7, when Green Hill, Friendship Terrace (all avenues), North & South Lowlands Drive, North & South Friendship Drive (all avenues),?? Mahaica Gap, Lewis Gap, Lodge Terrace and nearby districts will be sprayed.????
Fogging will run from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. each day and pedestrians and motorists should proceed with caution when encountering fogging operations on the street.?? Parents are advised to prevent their children from playing in the fog or from running behind the fogging machine.?? In addition, persons with respiratory problems should protect themselves from inhaling the fog.?? Householders are urged to help in the elimination of the aedes aegypti mosquito by opening windows and doors to allow the fog to circulate.
