There will be fogging in six parishes across the island next week when the Ministry of Health continues its weekly evening programme to rid Barbados of the aedes aegypti mosquito.
On Monday, September 26, a team from the Vector Control Unit will fog the St. Philip districts of Brereton, Six Roads, Nursery #1 & 2, Cave Land and the environs. The following day, Tuesday, September 27, the operations will switch to St. George, namely, Walkers Road, Rowans Park and the environs.
St. Joseph will be visited on Wednesday, September 28, and the areas of Spa Hill, Parks Road, Sugar Hill, Branchbury, Hillswick and the environs will be fogged.
Thursday, September 29, will be the turn of some residents of St. James and St. Peter and those districts to be targeted are: Carlton, Porters, Mullins, Rock Dundo, Brathwaite Road, Major Walk, Farm Road, Burma Road with all avenues and surrounding areas.
Fogging for the week will end on Friday, September 30, in St. Thomas when Vault Road, Bryans Road, Allen View, Hopewell, Plumtree and the environs are tackled.
The fogging machine will be in the districts from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. daily. Householders are asked to assist by opening their windows and doors to allow the fog to penetrate, while parents have been instructed to forbid their children from playing in the fog or running behind the machine.
Persons with respiratory problems are reminded that they should protect themselves from inhaling the fog, while pedestrians and motorists are urged to proceed with caution when encountering the fogging operations on the street.
