Efforts to rid the island of the aedes egypti mosquito, the carrier of dengue, continue next week when neighbourhoods across Barbados will be fogged from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. each day.
On Monday, January 28, the Vector Control Unit of the Ministry of Health will fog the Christ Church districts of Harts Gap (with Avenues), St. Matthias Road, Pleasant Hall, Marine Gardens, Rockley Road (with Avenues), Dayrells Road, Hastings Main Road, Balmoral Gap, Halls Gap, Hood Road, Village Road, Brownes Gap, Coconut Walk, Nelson Road, Exeter Road, York Road, Navy Road, Pavilion Court and the environs.
The following day, Tuesday, January 29, the team will spray Drax Hall Tenantry, Melverton, Bydes Mill, Mount Tenantry, Frenches and St. Lukes in St. George.??
The team will move to St. Joseph on Wednesday, January 30, and fog Braggs Hill, Sugar Hill, Yearwood Road, Chimborazo, Lammings, Airy Hill, St. Bernards Village, Mellows Hill and other nearby areas.
The following day, Thursday, January 31, the districts in St. James to be fogged are:?? Carlton, Carlton Development, Weston, Baird’s Road, Crick Hill, Mount Standfast, The Garden, Store House Gap, Fox Club Road, Husbands Road and Douglin’s Gap.
Fogging for the week will conclude in St. Michael on Friday, February 1, with the team focusing on Highgate Park, Highgate Gardens, Upper Collymore Rock, Villa Road, Rollock Park, Beales Gap, Warners Road, Burkes Land, Burkes Road, Eversley Road, Manchester Road, Liverpool Road, London Road, Brittons New Road, Rodcliffe Gardens, Reece Road, Brittons Park, Laynes Road, Fordes Road, Hillbury Road, Knights Road, Cummings Road, Scotts Gap, Collymore Rock, Brittons + Road, McClean Gap, Weir Gap, Perkins Gap, Valerie Land, Millyard Road and Brittons New Road.
When fogging operations are in your area, please open your windows and doors to allow the fog to penetrate.?? However, persons with respiratory problems should protect themselves from inhaling the fog.??
Pedestrians and motorists should proceed with caution when encountering fogging operations on the street and parents are also urged to prevent their children from playing in the fog or from running behind the fogging machine.??
