The Vector Control Unit of the Ministry of Health will continue fogging exercises in parishes throughout Barbados next week in an effort to control the spread of the Aedes aegypti mosquito.

On Monday, September 5, the team will be in St. Michael and St. James where areas to be fogged include University Drive with Avenues, University Hill, Free Hill with Avenues, Free Hill Crescent, Black Rock and the environs.

The Unit will also spray Paradise Heights, Wanstead Gardens with Avenues, West Terrace, West Terrace Gardens with Avenues and surrounding areas.

On Tuesday, September 6, the team will be in Christ Church along Enterprise Coast Road, Lower Carter’s Gap, Enterprise, Upper Carter’s Gap, Rollins Road and neighbouring districts. Another team will fog St. Matthias, Balmoral Gap, Marine Gardens, Queen’s Way, Brownes Gap, Dayrells Road and the environs.

On Wednesday, September 7, the exercise will continue in St. George at Newbury, Gun Hill, Country Road, Bridge Cot, Cottage, Market Hill and surrounding areas; and in St. Michael in George Street, Belleville with Avenues, Pine Road, Erdiston Road, Pine Hill Road and Pine Gardens.

St. Andrew will be targeted on Thursday, September 8, specifically Shorey Village, Savannah Road, Doughlin Tenantry Road, Walkers, Bawden’s, Babylon Road, Redman Road, Belleplaine, Farrell’s Road, Corbin’s Village, Lakes Development, Lakes Village, Isolation Road, Jordan’s Road, Franklyn Doughlin Tenantry Road and neighbouring districts.

Fogging will be carried out from 4:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. daily and householders are reminded to open windows and doors to allow the spray to enter. Persons with respiratory problems are advised to protect themselves and children should not play in the fog.
