The Ministry of Health’s fogging programme will continue next week, targeting four parishes, in its bid to eliminate the aedes aegypti mosquito, responsible for dengue.

The team from the Vector Control Unit will begin on Monday, August 29, in the St. Peter districts of Rose Hill, Benn Hill, Benn Hill Woods, Pleasant Hall, Pleasant View, All Saints, Portland, Benny Hall, Welchtown and the environs.

They will continue on Tuesday, August 30, in other districts of the same parish as well as St. James. ??Cemetery Lane, Road View, Sweet Home Gap, Gibbs, Mullins, Lower Bakers, Lower Carlton 1st – 4th Avenues, Carlton Road and the nearby districts will be fogged.

A move to St. Lucy on Wednesday August 31, will see the team at River Bay, Hope Road, North Thumberland, Hope Bridge, Connell Town, Coconut Hall, Bishops, Chance Hall, Lowlands, Rockfield, Pie Corner, Little Bay and surrounding areas.

Areas in St. Thomas will be visited on Thursday, September 1.?? They are:?? Hopewell Tenantry, Ashford, Lion Castle, Welchman Hall, Welchman Hall #1 & #2, Vault Road, Carrington Village, Sturges, Harrison’s Cave Road, Brydans Road, Allen View and the environs.

Fogging ends for the week on Friday, September 2, in St. Michael. The districts to be sprayed are: Howells + Road, Skeetes Road with Avenues, Mayers Road, Government Hill, Back Ivy with Avenues, Ivy Main Road, My Lord’s Hill, Pinders Gap, Dean’s Land, Ivy Housing Area and the environs.

The fogging exercise runs from 4:30 until 7:30 p.m. and householders are asked to assist by opening windows and doors to allow the fog to penetrate.

Persons with respiratory problems should protect themselves from inhaling the fog, while pedestrians and motorists are encouraged to proceed with caution when encountering fogging operations on the street.

Parents are also advised to prohibit children from playing in the fog or running behind the fogging machine.??
