Four parishes will be targeted when the Ministry of Health continues its fogging programme to rid the island of the aedes aegypti mosquito, and by extension, dengue fever.
The team from the Vector Control Unit will begin with emphasis on Christ Church and St. Philip on Monday, October, 22, when Woodbourne, Woodbourne Tenantry, St. Patrick’s, Bright Hill, Waldron Village, Lowthers, Fairview, Leadvale, Lowlands Park and their environs will be fogged.
Then, on Tuesday, October 23, Shop Hill, Vaucluse, Grandview, Grandview Heights, Reece Road, Cane Garden, Edgehill Terrace, Edgehill Heights, Bridgefield, and Forty Acres in St. Thomas will be treated.??
The team will remain in St. Thomas on Wednesday, October 24, to spray Hopewell Tenantry, Ashford, Lion Castle, Welchman Hall, Welchman Hall #1 and 2, Vault Road, Carrington Village, Sturges, Harrison’s Cave Road, Bryans Road, Allen View and the nearby areas.
St. James will be targeted for fogging on Thursday, October, 25. The districts to be visited include: Orange Hill, Apes Hill, Endeavour, Baywoods, Buccaneer Terrace, Waterhall Terrace and Waterhall.?? Fogging will culminate in that parish on Friday, October 26, when Haynesville Housing Area, Thorpes, Durants Village, Holders Hill, Waterman Village and the environs will be sprayed.
Fogging will run from 4:30 until 7:30 p.m. and householders are asked to assist by opening windows and doors to allow the fog to penetrate. Persons with respiratory problems should protect themselves from inhaling the fog, while pedestrians and motorists should proceed with caution when encountering fogging operations on the street.
Parents are also instructed to prohibit children from playing in the fog or running behind the fogging machine.
