Members of the public interested in donating food and medical supplies for Government’s Haiti Relief Effort may do so at a number of supermarkets across the island.

Items needed include non-perishables such as tuna, sardines, canned milk and dry foods; baby supplies, for example wipes, milk, baby foods and pampers; and sanitary products, such as feminine hygiene napkins, hand sanitisers, and sanitary wipes.

A range of medical necessities, including gauze, pain killers, first-aid kits, disposable gloves, disinfectants, cots, bedding, and medical equipment may also be contributed.

Building materials and supplies are also being accepted and persons can call the Haiti Relief Command Centre at Kensington Oval to make their pledges. The contact numbers are 274-1100-02, 274-1106-07, and 274-1150-55.

The main items needed are cement, aggregate building blocks, lumber, doors, electrical fixtures, construction tools, windows, sheetrock and roofing materials.

Persons interested in making monetary donations to the Government’s Haiti Relief Effort are also reminded that they can do so at any branch of First Caribbean International Bank or Barbados National Bank. The account numbers are 1001059963 and 01801513-2002 respectively.
