Food vendors planning to operate their businesses at Crop Over events are reminded that they must have a valid permit to operate a temporary restaurant.

The deadline to apply for events taking place during the July 29 to August 2 weekend is Friday, July 15.

Officials at the Environmental Health Department explained: “This allows for inspection of the applicant’s premises to ensure that conditions are conducive to the preparation of food that is wholesome for human consumption.”

Applications must be made at the Environmental Health Department closest to where the event is being staged. All food handlers must also be in possession of a valid medical certificate from a registered medical practitioner. To be valid, the certificate must be issued in 2016 and will expire on December 31.
