Establishing air links to improve the tourist traffic between Chile and Barbados was one of the key issues discussed today when the Chilean Ambassador, Patricio Elgueta, called on Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade, Senator Maxine McClean, during a courtesy call.

Minister McClean, who expressed a desire for increased trade between the two countries, noted that initiating a Barbados/Chile Air Services Agreement would be mutually beneficial, as it would seek to increase business opportunities for both countries.

The two officials also discussed a number of topical issues, including cooperation in the area of student exchange programmes, and the recent rescue of the Chilean miners.

The Foreign Minister and the Ambassador said they were both looking forward to building upon and strengthening the good relations that exist between the two OAS members.?? Barbados and Chile established diplomatic ties in 1967.??tblackman@barbados.gov.bb
