Cultural practitioners and service providers are invited to attend a public forum on the Cultural Industries Development Bill on Tuesday, June 25, at the Queen’s Park Steel Shed, the City, from 6:30 to 9:00 p.m.

Representatives from the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Youth, including Permanent Secretary, Ruth Blackman, will be present at the session.

Designed to give the public an opportunity to learn more about the Bill before it goes to Parliament, the forum will also provide a platform for practitioners to make comments and ask questions about the proposed legislation.??

Minister of Culture, Sports and Youth, Stephen Lashley, who will give the opening address at the event, is encouraging wide participation, on what he described as "a continuation of the ongoing dialogue on proposed legislation that will create a much needed foundation upon which the emerging cultural industries sector can be propelled".

Stating that this critical piece of legislation will help with the overall development of the sector and Barbados in general, he added, "I’m issuing a special invitation to all those who are unfamiliar with the process, as it provides another opportunity to learn and actively participate."??
