Barbadians of all ages are invited to once again Love the Body, Move that Body, Treat Your Body Right, when the Ministry of Health and the National Task Force on Physical Activity and Exercise host a free fitness fair on Caribbean Wellness Day on Saturday, September 8.

The event will be held at Browne’s Beach and will run from 3:00 to 7:00 p.m. There will be line dancing, zumba, the skipping challenge, chinese skip, beach boot camp, handball, beach volleyball, a tai chi cool down/stretch and a calypso-driven workout.???? There will also be an appearance by the Hypa Kids.??

In addition to continuing with the Love that Body theme, the Caribbean Community (CARICOM) is this year rolling out a three-year focus on Healthy Schools: Healthy Children to highlight the need to promote more physical activities and healthier food choices in schools.

Caribbean Wellness Day was initiated by the CARICOM Heads of Government in 2007 and was designed as a starting point for a plan of action to reduce the high incidence of Non-Communicable Diseases in the Caribbean.?? In Barbados, one quarter of all adults have at least one chronic disease and this is projected to increase to a third of all adults by 2025.??
