Language Fun Barbados is once again hosting its annual Petits Picasso de la Barbade French poster contest for children between ages five and 11 in celebration of Francophonie week.

The Alliance Française de Bridgetown and the Barbados Language Centre have both come on board to endorse this initiative.

The theme of the competition is Le monde merveilleux de la Francophonie (The wonderful world of Francophonie), and no previous exposure to French is required to enter.

The competition aims to raise awareness of the importance of learning the French language from a young age and the opportunities that doing so will open for Barbadian children, while also providing an opportunity to showcase the talent of young people.

The deadline for entries is Saturday, March 14, 2020.  All competition details may be found by visiting www.languagefunbarbados.com/pp2020.  For more information, persons may call Leandra King at 251-5539, or email info@languagefunbarbados.com.

The winning posters will be displayed for three weeks at various participating stores, and organizations and winners will be invited to attend a prize-giving ceremony in the month of March.

Francophonie Day, which takes place yearly on March 20, is a worldwide celebration of all things French.
