In an effort to create greater awareness about public utility regulation, the Fair Trading Commission (FTC) will be hosting a special lecture on the issue.
Director of the Public Utility Research Centre (PURC) at the University of Florida, Dr. Mark Jamison, will deliver the FTC’s 6th annual public lecture entitled: Functions, Formulas and Fiction: Regulation in the Next 10 Years.
The event takes place on Friday, March 12, at the Hilton Barbados, Needhams Point, St. Michael, starting at 7:00 p.m.
Dr. Jamison conducts international training and research on business and government policy in the area of utilities and network industries and is a co-director of the PURC/World Bank International Training Programme on Utility Regulation and Strategy.
His research interests are: Leadership and Institutional Development in Regulation; Competition and Subsidies in Telecommunications and Regulation for next Generation Networks.
Apart from his academic interests, he was a former manager of regulatory policy at Sprint, head of research for the Iowa Utilities Board and a communications economist for the Kansas Corporation Commission. jwilson@barbados.gov.bb
