Employees in the tourism sector will soon be better equipped to communicate and meet the needs of the disabled visitor when the Ministry of Tourism hosts a two-day workshop on sign language.

The Sensitivity and Sign Language Training workshop will be held on Thursday, October 3, and Friday, October 4, at the Radisson Aquatica Resort, Aquatic Gap, St. Michael, starting at 9:00 a.m. each day.

The workshop will target management and supervisory personnel in the tourism industry and its objectives are to: improve customer service with this segment of the visitor market; enhance the general approach to communicating with disabled visitors; gain greater confidence when interacting with visitors in the disabled community; and to teach persons how to maintain a professional attitude in presenting their skills and knowledge to the disabled visitor about their work and Barbados.

Interested persons are asked to register by Monday, September 23, by contacting Maureen Bridgeman, at 430-7539 or via e-mail bridgemanm@tourism.gov.bb or Selma Thompson, at 430-7521 or thompsons@tourism.gov.bb.
