Barbadians desirous of pursuing studies at the University of the West Indies’ Open Campus can now access finances to do so through the Ministry of Education and Human Resource Development’s Student Revolving Loan Fund (SRLF).This was announced by Pro Vice Chancellor and Principal of the Open Campus, Professor Hazel Simmons-McDonald, who expressed pleasure that the funding was available.??

"…A university education is an important investment in the personal lives of our Caribbean people, but it has become costly. Even though the Open Campus has one of the most competitively-priced tuition structures in higher education, we understand that some of our students still find it very difficult to fund their education as government support has waned.

"We have been working directly with many financial institutions across the region to partner with, and restructure financial aid programmes for our online and part-time students. We are very happy that the Government of Barbados has made the fund available to students who are pursuing education through the Open Campus," professor Simmons-McDonald observed.

There are some criteria to be met before funding can be accessed and persons are advised to contact the SRLF at 430-2865 for further information. kmoore@barbados.gov.bb
