BCC???S Portfolio Season Starts April 23

The Barbados Community College???s (BCC) annual portfolio season starts next Wednesday, April 23, at the Frank Collymore Hall.

A Season of Portfolio 2014 is a production of the BCC???s Division of Fine Arts, and it begins that evening at 8.00 p.m. with an interlude of music entitled Moods of Music 2014.

On Saturday, April 26, and Sunday, April 27, the Theatre Arts group will present Love! Is the Province of the Brave, written by Mark Jason Welch, beginning at 8.00 p.m. The dance portfolio is entitled: Rated Random and will be held on Friday, May 2, starting at 7.00 p.m.

SBA Business Courses In May

The Small Business Association (SBA) will launch a series of six-week, business courses next month.

Small Business Management ??? Strategies for Survival, which begins on Tuesday, May 6, will focus on strategic visioning and management techniques in a volatile environment, and positioning enterprise for growth. There will also be a QuickBooks Basic and a QuickBooks Intermediate course, which will begin on Wednesday, May 7 and Thursday, May 8, respectively.

All courses will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the SBA Secretariat, #1 Pelican Industrial Park, St. Michael.??To register and for additional information on fees, persons may contact the SBA at 228-0162 or email theoffice@sba.bb, before the Friday, April 25, deadline.

Schools Kits For Students Taking The BSSEE

Students taking the Barbados Secondary Schools??? Entrance Examination (BSSEE) 2014, will be well-prepared to write it on May 6.

The European Union (EU), through the European Development Fund (EDF), will once again be distributing school kits to the over 3,700 students who will be sitting the examination, also known as the 11-Plus or Common Entrance Examination.

The kit will comprise one clipboard, two pencils, one eraser, one ruler, one pouch and one sharpener. This is the EU???s contribution as part of its development agenda.

The hand-over of items takes place on Wednesday, April 30, at 10:00 a.m. at the Lloyd Erskine Sandiford Centre, Two Mile Hill, St. Michael.
Principals of public and private primary schools as well as the Head Girl and the Head Boy of the schools will receive the kits on behalf of their institutions.

Heroes Day Tour To Highlight Women’s Contribution To Bridgetown

The public is invited to participate in the annual National Heroes Day tour on Sunday, April 27.??The excursion, which is organised by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Youth, will begin at 3:30 p.m.

It will start at the James Street Methodist Church, Bridgetown, and journey to various locations within the island???s UNESCO World Heritage Site: Historic Bridgetown and its Garrison.

Seeking to honour national heroine, Sarah Ann Gill, this year???s tour will also explore the invaluable contributions women have made within Historic Bridgetown and its Garrison.

Persons interested in attending the annual National Heroes Day tour are asked to register by contacting the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Youth at 310-2700, 310-2710 or 310-2729. Admission is free. National Heroes Day is celebrated in Barbados on April 28.
