Christ Church Celebrates Parish Month This April

April has been designated parish month for Christ Church, and residents of that district are encouraged to support activities planned by the Christ Church Parish Independence Committee.

The activities form part of the effort by the Community Independence Celebrations Secretariat to continuously sensitise Barbadians about national pride and independence.

Each parish has been assigned a month to highlight the uniqueness of their district, under this year???s theme: Uniting a nation, one community at a time.

On Saturday, April 12, at 4:30 p.m., the St. Christopher???s Primary School will host a concert at the Foundation School, Church Hill, Christ Church. Residents also have an opportunity to meet the members of the Christ Church Parish Independence Committee and their parish ambassadors on Friday, April 25, at 7:00 p.m. at the Cornerstone Wesleyan Holiness Church, Sargeants Village, Christ Church.

A fundraising cake sale will be held the following day, Saturday, April 26, at the Montrose Supermarket, starting at 8:00 a.m.??Activities will conclude on Wednesday, April 30, at 7:00 p.m. with a fundraising Bingo Night at A & H Convenience Store, Enterprise Main Road, Christ Church.

Ministry Of Agriculture Continues Plant Clinic Series

The Ministry of Agriculture, in collaboration with the Commonwealth Agricultural Bureau International, is continuing its plant clinic series. There will be two clinics this month for persons who wish to improve food security by reducing crop losses.

The first clinic will take place on Friday, April 11, at the Carters General Store, Wildey, St. Michael, from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., while the second clinic will be held on Saturday, April 26, at AgroChemicals Ltd., Brandons, St. Michael, from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.

Persons are asked to bring their sick plants to the clinic as representatives from the ministry will be on hand to answer any questions on plant health from farmers and householders.

St. Peter and St Andrew Residents Invited To Parish Meetings

Residents of St. Andrew are invited to attend the St. Andrew Parish Independence Committee???s general meeting at the A. Dacosta Edwards Primary School, on Monday, April 14, at 7:30 p.m.

Residents of St. Peter are also invited to a general meeting organised by the St. Peter Parish Independence Committee on Wednesday, April 16. It will be held at the Speightstown Resource Centre, beginning at 7:00 p.m.

Video and Film Students To Showcase Their Work

Students who participated in the Digital Media Film Project of the Youth Mainstreaming Programme in the Division of Youth will have an opportunity to publicise their work during a Student Showcase and Presentation this Friday, April 11.

It will be held in the training room at the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Youth, Haggatt Hall, St. Michael, at 3:00 p.m.??

The Digital Media Film Project exposes young men and women to hands-on training and work experience in video and film production. It is one of the many youth developmental programmes offered by the Division of Youth; the initiative is also supported by the UNDP Youth-In Project.

Speakers at the showcase will include Minister of Culture, Sports and Youth, Stephen Lashley and Course Coordinator, Rahmat Jean-Pierre.
