BADMC Issues Breadfruit Appeal

The Barbados Agricultural Development and Marketing Corporation (BADMC) has issued an urgent appeal for mature breadfruits to make breadfruit flour.

Persons who have mature breadfruits are asked to call Delcina Forde at the BADMC at 428-0061.??Representatives of the BADMC also pick breadfruits island-wide.

Youth Farm Programme Market Day On Friday

The public is invited to support the Youth Farm Programme???s Market Day on Friday, August 21, at the Princess Margaret Secondary School, Six Roads, St. Philip.

The Market Day, which will run from 9:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., will offer produce grown and harvested after the programme???s eight-week intensive training course in crop and animal farming.

The programme, which focuses on the production of diversified vegetables, root crops and herbs for local markets, is a collaborative project offered by the Inter-American Institute for Cooperation on Agriculture, the Ministry of Education and Human Resource Development, and the Barbados Technical and Vocational Education and Training Council. This year???s programme also saw the participation of students from Antigua.

Museum To Hold Summer Torchlight Tour

The Barbados Museum and Historical Society is inviting interested persons to experience its special after hours Torchlight Tour.

The event, which will take place on Friday, August 21, at the Museum???s Historic Garrison, St. Michael headquarters, at 6:30 p.m., will feature guided gallery tours, live re-enactments, a food court and entertainment. Members of the public are asked to pay a small entrance fee.

SPBMP Leadership Training Ends On Friday

Forty-six secondary school students, drawn from 17 public and four private secondary schools across the island, will on Friday, August 21, wrap up a week of Leadership training.

The sessions, which are being undertaken as part of the Ministry of Education, Science, Technology and Innovation???s Schools??? Positive Behaviour Management Programme, seek to develop students??? leadership skills through improving their ability to communicate their ideas.

The training is being conducted by personnel from Toastmasters International.??Students will receive their certificates during a graduation ceremony on Friday, August 21, at Almond Bay Caterers, Hastings, Christ Church, at 1:00 p.m.

Carlisle Bay Stakeholder Meeting

Members of the public are invited to a meeting of the Carlisle Bay stakeholders on Saturday, August 29, at Underwater Barbados, Bay Street, St. Michael, beginning at 4:00 p.m.

Persons who are a part of a business, hotel, school or community group in the Carlisle Bay area are specially invited to attend.

Officials from the Coastal Zone Management Unit will address the meeting and give updates on plans for the area.??Persons are also encouraged to participate in sampling the lionfish following a demonstration on site.
