LAUNCH OF GET UP! PROJECT NEXT MONTH

Workers in Barbados will soon get another opportunity to improve their productivity when The Productivity Council launches an island-wide project – GET UP! (Getting Everyone To Understand Productivity), next month.

Workshops will be held during the months of September, October and November and participants will learn about Productivity Awareness, Service Excellence, Communication, Work Ethics and Teamwork.

The half-day sessions, to be held every Tuesday and Thursday, will target private and public sector employees. To register for the workshops, which will be held at The Productivity Council, Third Floor, Baobab Tower, Warrens, St. Michael, persons should call Tara Parris or Roseann Morris at 626-9416.

GET UP! started late last year in the catchment areas of Warrens, Green Hill and Jackson, and training sessions were held in the south coast a few weeks ago.

Productivity Officer, Jannell Arthur, said The Council had received excellent feedback from the participants. ???So far, those sessions have been extremely well received and the numbers have been very encouraging. Several of the organisations that registered staff for the workshops have subsequently contacted The Council to conduct special in-house training for additional employees,??? she disclosed.

Ms. Arthur is of the opinion that more people are becoming productivity conscious, and said it is, therefore, necessary to make them aware of the issues involved and help them to put into practice what they learn.
