The St. Lucy District Hospital will be celebrating Senior Citizens??? Month with a week of activities from Sunday, September 1, to Saturday, September 7.

The events will start with a church service on the hospital grounds at River Bay, St. Lucy on Sunday, beginning at 4:00 p.m. Members of the public will have an opportunity to learn more about the hospital???s staff and its operations when it holds an Open Day on Monday, September 2, from 10:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m.

Eating healthily at any age will be the focus of the hospital???s Health Expo which is slated for Tuesday, September 3, between 10:00 a.m. and noon. Representatives from the National Nutrition Centre will be on hand to offer advice on healthy, affordable food options.

The highlight of the week will be a Sports Day sponsored by the Arawak Cement Plant on Thursday, September 5, from 10:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. Staff and patients from other hospitals including the Psychiatric Hospital, Gordon Cummins District Hospital, the Geriatric Hospital and St. Philip District Hospital will compete in a number of events such as the egg and spoon and two-legged races. Karaoke lovers will not be left out since there will be a karaoke session during the Sports Day which will be held under the patronage of representative for the parish, Denis Kellman.

The Barbados Landship will be the feature attraction on Saturday, September 7, when they perform their signature moves for residents and staff of the hospital, beginning at 10:00 a.m. Members of the public are invited to join the hospital in its celebrations.
