Second Habitat III Community Meeting On August 9

Members of the public are invited to voice their concerns on the current trends impacting housing, transport and infrastructure in urban and rural Barbados, at the next Habitat III Community meeting, on Sunday, August 9, in the school hall at Queen???s College, Husbands, St. James, from 5:30 to 7:00 p.m.

The third meeting takes places on Wednesday, August 12, at The Alexandra School, Speightstown, St. Peter, followed by another on Sunday, August 16, at the Princess Margaret Secondary School, Six Roads, St. Philip.

The final meeting will take place on Wednesday, August 19, in the church hall of the Christ Church Parish Church, Church Hill. All meetings will be held from 5:30 to 7:00 p.m.

Public input will go towards a plan of action which will initially outline the next 20 years in urban and rural development in Barbados. A team from Barbados will present these plans at Habitat III, a major global summit which will be held in Quito, Ecuador, from October 17 to 20, 2016.

National Heroes Of Labour Symposium This Thursday

Celebrations for the Labour Department???s 75th Anniversary will continue with the final symposium on Barbados??? National Heroes of Labour this Thursday, August 6. The life and work of the Right Excellent Sir Grantley Adams and the Right Excellent Sir Hugh Springer will be discussed at the Hugh Springer Auditorium, Solidarity House, beginning at 7:00 p.m.

The speakers will be Sir Richard Cheltenham, Orlando ???Gabby??? Scott, Dr. George Belle, and Barbados??? Ambassador to CARICOM, Robert ???Bobby??? Morris.??Members of the public are invited to attend the symposium, which is being hosted by the Labour Department, in collaboration with the Barbados Workers??? Union.
