Psychiatric Hospital Designated a Silent Zone

The management of the Psychiatric Hospital has reminded the public that the area in and around the hospital has been designated a silent zone.

While the designation has been in place since May this year, the hospital, located at Black Rock Main Road, St. Michael, is still experiencing problems with excessive noise.

Silent zone signage has been erected at the corner of Wavell Avenue and Fairfield Road, as well as at strategic points within the hospital???s premises.

CBTF Workshops to Give Advice on How to Apply for Funding

A series of workshops will be held this month for employers and training providers seeking to access grant funding from the Competency Based Training Fund (CBTF).

With the second call for proposals to be made this month, the Competency Based Training Fund Management Unit will conduct the workshops from Monday, August 11, until Thursday, August 14, at the Accra Beach Hotel, Rockley, Christ Church, with the aim of informing on the procedures for accessing the funds.

Interested organisations and training providers should sign up online at www.cbtf.com.bb/register, or email info@cbtf.com.bb . The CBTF may also be reached at 227-9090.

The CBTF is a Government of Barbados/Inter-American Development Bank initiative designed to better equip Barbadian workers with the skills and competencies needed to excel in a rapidly changing world. It requires employers and training institutions to form partnerships to access the funds for primarily training persons employed in the particular organisation.

These partnerships may be formed between an employer/employee association and local, regional or international training providers.

The funds will be made available to partnerships for developing and providing training programmes based on occupational standards.
