Month-end Deadline For Research Papers

Private and public sector professionals in Barbados who are interested in submitting research papers for Volume 9 of the Journal of Public Sector Policy Analysis, which is published by the Research and Planning Unit of the Ministry of Finance and Economic Affairs, are reminded that the deadline is Monday, August 31.

Papers should be of a policy nature where relevant; however, research topics of a personal choice may also be submitted. The documents should be sent via email to kelly.a.hunte@barbados.gov.bb, and accepted papers must be presented at the Unit???s research seminar on Friday, September 25.

For details pertaining to the criteria for the Journal submission, the public should contact Kelly Hunte at 310-1354, or visit the website www.economicaffairs.gov.bb, and look under the publications and Reports tab. The Journal of Public Sector Policy Analysis is expected to be published on Thursday, December 31, 2015.

The publication was first issued in 2007, and contains analytical commentaries on pertinent economic and social issues confronting the society. It is the first academic journal to be produced by the public service of Barbados.

Training For Passenger Transport Service Operators

Taxi and Tour Bus Owners and Operators are invited to register for the upcoming Passenger Transport Service Operator Training Course, which is expected to provide them with critical information to assist in better serving their publics.

The sessions are being organised by the Barbados Community College???s (BCC) Industry Services Unit, in conjunction with the Ministry of Tourism, the Transport Authority and the Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) Council.

Topics include Business Management, Effective Communication, Defensive Driving, Quality Customer Service, Tour Guiding Basics, Foreign Language Basics, History and Geography of Barbados, and Occupational Safety and Health.

Training starts on Sunday, August 16, and will run for 13 weeks. Classes on Sunday will be held from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. Sessions will also take place on Mondays and Thursdays from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. each day.
