BCC Orientation Session for Duke University Students

The Barbados Community College (BCC) will host eight students and one clinical instructor from Duke University School of Nursing.

As part of the BCC???s efforts at familiarising the group with the College and Barbados, there will be a half-day orientation session on Monday, August 11, in the Conference Room, located in the Administration Block.

It starts at 9:00 a.m. and will run until noon. Students will be addressed by Principal of the BCC, Dr. Gladstone Best, and Registrar Sydney Arthur.

Following the session, there will be an island tour for the visiting group.

The students will later be attached to a number of polyclinics until Friday, August 22.

Activities for St. Michael North West Constituency

Residents of the St. Michael North West Constituency are invited to participate in two activities being hosted by their constituency council during the month of August.

Spanish classes will be offered from Monday, August 11, and will run every Monday and Wednesday from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., until Wednesday, November 5.

Interested constituents are invited to collect registration forms from the Deacons Resource Centre, where they must be returned by Friday, August 8.

The programme aims to empower residents of the community, as well as give them an opportunity to learn new skills and create other avenues of employment, especially within the services industries.

There will also be a Health and Safety Fair on Saturday, August 23, at the Deacons Hard Court, from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Activities on the day will include information sharing and counselling from members of the Royal Barbados Police Force, the Fire Service, the Cancer Society and the Heart and Stroke Foundation. Material will also be disseminated on HIV/AIDS, and there will be a Kids Zone, zumba, line dancing, body building and karaoke.

St. Joseph Residents Urged to Help in Cleanup

Residents of St. Joseph and the surrounding districts are invited to participate in cleaning up Blackman???s Bridge.

The cleanup, organised by the parish???s Independence Committee, will be held on Saturday, August 9 and Sunday, August 10, from 8:00 a.m. on both days.
