Free Christmas Concerts This Month

Families across Barbados are invited to come out later this month and enjoy two evenings of Christmas music under the stars.

The first will be held in the north at the Speightstown Esplanade, Speightstown, St. Peter, on Saturday, December 13, while the second concert will be held the following week, Saturday, December 20, at The Greens, Church Village, The City.

Both concerts will be held from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. Community Choirs will be among the artistes featured at the event.

The concerts are being organised by the Community Development Department, and persons may call Charlyn Trotman, at 310-1700 or 310-1708, for further information.

Financial Services Commission Relocating

The Financial Services Commission (FSC) will be relocated to Suites 301 & 302,??Building 4, Harbour Industrial Park, Bridgetown, from Monday, December 15.

In order to facilitate this move, the office will be closed on Thursday, December??11 and Friday, December 12. The FSC apologises for any inconvenience this closure may cause.

The public is also asked to note that the office number ??? 421-2142 ??? will remain the same. The FSC???s email is info@fsc.gov.bb, while the website is www.fsc.gov.bb.

Speech Day At Queen???s College December 9

Queen???s College will hold its 2014 Speech Day and Prize-giving ceremony on Tuesday, December 9, at the school in Husbands, St. James, at 2:00 p.m.

The feature address will be delivered by Dr. Joyce Stewart, who will address the theme: The Value of Education in Difficult Economic Times. Principal Dr. David Browne will give a report on the school???s progress in the academic year 2013-2014.

HIV Committee To Hold Activities

As part of its commitment to the fight against HIV and AIDS, the Silver Sands HIV/AIDS Education Committee will host two activities during this month.

The first will be an awards ceremony for participants of their Primary School Essay Competition, which will be held this Saturday, December 6, at the Ivan Harewood Centre, Church Hill, Christ Church, at 6:00 p.m.

During the ceremony, a booklet entitled: Thoughts on HIV, which is a compilation of ten years of essays, will also be launched.??This will be followed by the annual Christmas Concert to be held at the Oistins Bay Garden on Sunday, December 14, at 6:30 p.m.

Artistes will include Sing Out Barbados, the Silvertones, Tony ???Commander??? Grazette, the Unity Dancers and the St. Andrew Square Dancers. Patrons to the event are asked to make a donation of a non-perishable food item for the HIV Food Bank.
