Town hall meetings on the Barbados Secondary Schools’ Entrance Examination (BSSEE) will start in the New Year on Thursday, January 9.

An initiative of the Ministry of Education, Science, Technology and Innovation, the sessions aim to sensitise all stakeholders about the processes involved in the administration of the BSSEE, familiarly known as the Common Entrance Examination.

Parents and guardians of children, who will be taking the BSSEE on May 6, 2014, are, therefore, encouraged to attend at least one session.

The familiarisation sessions will also target principals and teachers throughout the primary school system.

Senior Education Officer, Glyne Price and Education Officer, Everton Briggs, will conduct the first two sessions, which are scheduled for St. Bartholomew’s Primary, Parish Land, Christ Church and George Lamming Primary School, Flint Hall, St. Michael on January 9.

The two officers will, among other things, instruct persons about how to fill out the forms used in the exam, including the choice of school, deferral and special requests. All meetings begin at 5:00 p.m.

On Saturday, January 11, the second set of town hall meetings will take place at Roland Edwards Primary, Battaleys, St. Peter and the Christ Church Foundation School, Church Hill, Christ Church.

The following day, Sunday, January 12, meetings will be held at West Terrace Primary, St. James and Sharon Primary, Sharon, St. Thomas.

Cuthbert Moore Primary School, St. Helen, St. George and Bay Primary School, Bayland, St. Michael will be the venues for meetings on Tuesday, January 14, while on Thursday, January 16, the sessions will be held in the north, at Ignatius Byer Primary, Lowlands, St. Lucy and St. Lucy Primary, Trents, St. Lucy.

Ministry officials will move to Blackman and Gollop Primary, Edgerton, Christ Church and St. George Primary, Constant, St. George on Saturday, January 18. This will be followed by meetings at Princess Margaret Secondary School, Six Roads, St. Philip and at Wesley Hall Primary, King Street, The City on Sunday, January 19.

A. DaCosta Edwards Primary, Belleplaine, St. Andrew and Eden Lodge Primary in Eden Lodge, St. Michael will host familiarisation sessions on Thursday, January 23.

The town hall meetings on the Common Entrance Examination will culminate on Saturday, January 25, at St. John Primary, Glebe, St. John and St. Joseph Primary, Horse Hill, St. Joseph.
