NCC CHRISTMAS PLANT SALES DURING DECEMBER

In the spirit of Christmas, the National Conservation Commission (NCC) is offering plants for sale with up to 20 per cent discounts on selected foliage during the month of December.

The first of these sales takes place on Saturday, December 7, at the General Post Office at Cheapside, St. Michael, and at the NCC???s Codrington, St. Michael headquarters.

This will be followed by similar plant sales on Saturday, December 14, at the Speightstown Esplanade, and again at the NCC; the Oistins Bay Garden and NCC on Friday, December 20, and at the NCC on Saturday, December 21.

All plant sales begin at 8:30 a.m. and will run until 3:30 p.m. All are invited.

TOWN HALL MEETING ON HPV VACCINE

The Ministry of Health will be hosting a town hall meeting on the Human Papillomavirus (HPV) vaccine on Wednesday, December 18, at the St. Michael School, Martindale???s Road, beginning at 5:00 p.m.

The meeting, which will be conducted in collaboration with the National Council for Parent Teacher Associations (NCPTA), and is being held to raise awareness and educate parents about the vaccine. It will be introduced and administered to 11 and 12 year-old secondary school girls at the beginning of the next school term.

So far, the Ministry has met with key stakeholders including guidance counsellors, principals of secondary schools, teacher unions, the NCPTA and the Barbados Christian Council to brief them about the vaccine which prevents cervical cancer.

Parents are being urged to come out in their numbers to the town hall meeting to learn more about the HPV vaccine.

REMINDER FOR BBS/COSCAP HEARING, DECEMBER 11

Persons are reminded that the Hearing of the Reference by the Barbados Broadcasting Service Limited with respect to the Copyright Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers Inc. will resume on Wednesday, December 11.

It will be held in the Conference Room, 8th Floor, Baobab Tower, Warrens, St. Michael from 10:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m.

Facilitated through the Ministry of International Business and the Copyright Tribunal, the Hearing is governed by the Copyright Tribunal Regulations, 2004, and will be heard by the Copyright Tribunal.

DEADLINE FOR SERVICE OF STANDARDS, DECEMBER 6

The public is reminded that the Fair Trading Commission is currently reviewing the existing Standards of Service for the Barbados Light & Power Co. Ltd. (BL&P) and the landline services of Cable & Wireless (Barbados) Ltd., (C&W).

As a result, persons are being urged to share their views and make recommendations of these Standards via email at info@ftc.gov.bb., before the deadline of Friday, December 6, at 4:00 p.m.
