Fair Trade Focus Of FTC Lecture

The issue of Fair Trade will come under the microscope, when the Fair Trading Commission hosts its 11th Annual Lecture on the topic: Global Trends: Implications for Regulation and Fair Trade.

It takes place on Friday, March 13, at the Accra Beach Hotel & Spa, Rockley, Christ Church, beginning at 7:00 p.m.

Former Governor of the Central Bank and Ambassador and Permanent Representative, Mission of Barbados to the United Nations Office and other International Organisations at Geneva, Dr. Marion Williams, will be the featured speaker.

Parkinson???s Awareness 5K Walk On March 8

Registration is now open for the inaugural Parkinson???s Awareness 5K Walk and Run on Sunday, March 8, at the Speightstown Playing Field, St. Peter, beginning at 4:00 p.m.

The free event aims to heighten public awareness of Parkinson???s and to provide support to persons suffering from the diseases. The organiser is a Barbadian with the illness, Cherry Vogh-Ward, who lives in Switzerland.

Interested persons may register by accessing the Facebook page Barbados Parkinson???s Awareness Walk/5k Run, or before the start of the event on March 8.

Lecture To Highlight Landship

Persons interested in gaining insight into the origins of the Landship can do so, when the Barbados Museum and Historical Society, in collaboration with the Department of History, Philosophy and Cultural Studies of the University of the West Indies, Cave Hill Campus, presents a lecture entitled: Landship, Entrepreneurship and the Ship of State: The many uses of heritage in Barbados.

It will take place this Thursday, February 19, at the Barbados Museum & Historical Society at 6:30 p.m. The featured speaker will be Professor Philip Scher of the University of Oregon in the United States.
