Fair Trade To Be Examined At Lecture

The issue of Fair Trade will come under the microscope when the Fair Trading Commission hosts its 10th Annual Lecture on the topic: What is a Fair Trade?

It will take place on Friday, March 14, at the Accra Beach Hotel & Spa, beginning at 7:00 p.m., and Governor of the Central Bank of Barbados, Dr. DeLisle Worrell will be the speaker

Scholarships To China Now Available

Barbadians who wish to study at Chinese universities for the academic year beginning September 2014 can now apply for a number of scholarships.

The application forms are now available and can be accessed by logging on to http://laihua.csc.edu.cn.

To be eligible for the scholarships, candidates must be citizens of Barbados and in good health.

Applicants pursuing undergraduate studies must be under 25 years of age and possess a minimum of five CXC certificates at grades 1 or 2 general proficiency level.

Those who wish to apply for a Master???s degree must be under 35 years of age and hold a Bachelor???s degree with at least Lower 2nd class honours.

In order to pursue a Doctoral degree, candidates must be under 40 years of age and hold a Master???s degree.

Successful applicants must be prepared to study the Chinese language for one to two years before pursuing their major studies.

The scholarship will cover payment of full tuition and registration fee; and will provide free medical care and a monthly living allowance. However, applicants are expected to meet their own travel to and from China.

Completed application forms should be submitted to the Tertiary Section of the Ministry of Education, Science, Technology and Innovation no later than Friday, March 7.
