Girl???s Talk Workshop

Inspiring Change will be the topic in focus when the annual Girl???s Talk Workshop, hosted by the National Task Force on Crime Prevention (NTFCP), comes off on Friday, March 7, at 9.00 am.

Director of the NTFCP, Cheryl Willoughby, will deliver the opening remarks during the workshop, which will take place in the training room of the Barbados Institute of Management and Productivity, Wildey, St. Michael.

The workshop targets girls from secondary schools across the island and will cover topics such as Femininity and Socialisation of Women, Women as Perpetrators and Victims of Crime, Crime and its Impact on the Family, Women???s Health and Entrepreneurship.

Agro-Tourism In Focus

Patrons attending this year???s Agrofest Exhibition will be in for a special treat this weekend when the Ministry of Tourism and International Transport, the Barbados Tourism Authority (BTA), and the Inter-American Institute for Cooperation on Agriculture (IICA), mount a booth to reflect agro-tourism.

Under the theme: Celebrating Youth Entrepreneurship Agro-Tourism, this year???s exhibit will feature healthy snack seminars, conducted by the students of the

Barbados Community College???s (BCC) Hospitality Institute; spa services for patrons, utilising some of the products displayed at the mini-booths by youth entrepreneurs; and a Farm-to-Table Programme, where young farmers will exhibit some of the produce which they have grown locally. There will also be a display of local dishes by BCC Hospitality students.

Additionally, there will also be an Agro-Tourism corner by the Ministry of Tourism and the BTA, which will highlight agro-tourism and elements of the Food and Wine and Rum Festival.

On Saturday, March 1, from 10:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., there will be product displays by Caribbean Spa, Spa Products, Organic Farming, Agro-tourism and from the Food and Wine and Rum Festival.

The following day, Sunday, March 2, patrons will be able to partake in the much anticipated plantation breakfast from 8:00 to 11:00 a.m.
