Roland Edwards Primary To Launch SPBMP

Roland Edwards Primary School will officially launch its Schools??? Positive Behaviour Management Programme (SPBMP) on Friday, January 17, at its Battaleys, St. Peter location.

Minister of Education, Science, Technology and Innovation, Ronald Jones, is expected to address the launch which starts at 9:30 a.m., and will be attended by senior ministry officials and a representative from UNICEF.

The SPBMP revolves around three pillars ??? child-centredness, democratic participation, and inclusiveness. It encourages meaningful student involvement, student leadership and parental involvement, and students in the programme benefit from life skills and health and family life education.??

Registration Extended For EMT Course

The registration deadline for the Barbados Community College???s (BCC) Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) course has been extended.
Persons interested in the programme, which starts on Monday, February 10, have until this Friday, January 17, to apply.

The course is a prerequisite to the paramedic programme.

Emergency medical technicians provide basic and limited advanced medical care and transportation for critical and emergency patients who become suddenly ill or are injured.

Applicants must have a minimum of four CSEC General Proficiency passes, including English Language, Mathematics and Biology or Human and Social Biology.

Apply Now For January Short Courses At BCC

Persons with an interest in digital photography, fashion design and interior decorating should register now with the Barbados Community College (BCC) for programmes starting during the week of January 20.

Some courses included in the Fashion Design and Interior Decorating programmes for this semester are: Window Treatment and Fabrics, Business for Fashion, Construction Techniques 2, Pattern Drafting 2, Fashion Design 2, and Fashion Illustration 2.

The courses will run until May 16.??Beginners Spanish and French will also be offered this semester.??For more information and to register, individuals should visit the College???s website at www.bcc.edu.bb.

No School For Frederick Smith Students On January 15

There will be no classes for students of the Frederick Smith Secondary School, (formerly St. James Secondary), this Wednesday, January 15, as there will be a staff training exercise.

The Board of Management of the Trents, St. James School regrets any inconvenience that may be caused as a result of this closure.

Classes resume on Thursday, January 16.

Common Entrance Town Hall Meetings Continue This Week

Town hall meetings on the Barbados Secondary Schools’ Entrance Examination (BSSEE) will continue this week.

On Tuesday, January 14, there will be sessions at Cuthbert Moore Primary and Bay Primary, and on Thursday, January 16, the meetings will be held at St. Lucy Primary and Ignatius Byer Primary.

Senior Education Officer, Glyne Price, and Education Officer, Everton Briggs will speak at these meetings, which all begin at 5:00 p.m.

The two officers will sensitise parents and guardians about the processes involved in the administration of the BSSEE, which is scheduled for May 6, this year. Instructions will also be given on how to fill out the forms that must be completed prior to students taking the exam.

Parents and guardians should attend any meeting that is convenient to them.
