Ministry and OAS To Host Cultural Statistics Workshop

The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Youth, in collaboration with the Organization of American States (OAS), will host a two-day workshop on the Collection of Cultural Statistics.

It will commence on Thursday, January 30, at 9:00 a.m. with an opening ceremony in the conference room of the Baobab Tower, Warrens, St. Michael.

The training session is an essential part of the Ministry???s plans to conduct national mapping of the cultural industries. This information would also help to determine the economic contribution of culture to the island???s gross domestic product.

Statisticians, cultural officers, and managers of heritage organisations, who will attend the session, will also learn about crucial data collection techniques.

QEH To Hold Town Hall Meeting

The management of the Queen Elizabeth Hospital has invited members of the public to a town hall meeting at the Daryll Jordan Secondary School (formerly St. Lucy Secondary), Trents, St. Lucy, on Saturday, January 25, beginning at 5:00 p.m.

This is the first of a series of islandwide meetings which are part of the hospital???s 50th anniversary celebrations. Persons are encouraged to attend to receive insights into the operations of the QEH, as well as that institution???s vision for the future.

They will also get an opportunity to have any queries addressed.

Apply Now For Professional Development Course In Brazil

Those persons who have professional experience in the field of international law and international relations may now apply for a short-term Professional Development Course which will be held in Brazil later this year.

The Organization of American States has announced that the XLI Course of International Law will be held from August 4 to 22 and applicants must, among other things, be a citizen or permanent resident of Barbados; have a professional title/degree in law or international relations; and not be older than 40 years when taking the course.

In addition, the applicant must have an excellent command of Spanish or English and be proposed by a government agency, an institute of higher education or a public or private institution directly concerned with international law and international relations.

Applications must be forwarded to the Division of Economic Affairs, Warrens Office Complex, Warrens, St. Michael, by Friday, April 4.
