Town Hall Meeting For Cotton Pickers

The Ministry of Agriculture, in collaboration with the Barbados Cotton Association and Exclusive Cotton of the Caribbean Inc. will host a town hall meeting on Saturday, February 8 at Harrison College, Crumpton Street, St. Michael, starting at 4:00 p.m.

Topics to be addressed include payment to cotton pickers, transportation to the various cotton fields, and the correct method of cotton harvesting. There will also be a presentation by President of the Cotton Pickers Association, Sandra Graham.

Cotton Pickers Needed

The Barbados Cotton Growers’ Association is inviting members of the public to fill several vacancies for cotton pickers at a number of farms across the island.

Persons interested in working at the Bromefield, Rock Hall and Spring Hall farms in St Lucy should call 422-2809. Those interested in working at the farms at Malvern, St. John, Three Houses, St. Philip and Searles in Christ Church are asked to contact the area office at 437-5465.

Meanwhile, Carrington Estate, Groves, Foursquare, Hannays, Castle/Lamberts, Appewaites, Clico or Welchtown are also seeking cotton pickers, and the contact person for those farms is Oliver Agard. He can be reached at 844-7629.??

Spaying/Neutering Activities To Be Held In February

Pet owners across the island will have the opportunity to have their dogs spayed or neutered when the Ministry of Health???s Animal Control Centre, in association with the Barbados Veterinary Association, hosts a week of Spaying/Neutering activities during the month of February.

Spay Day Barbados Week will run from February 24 – 28 and is being sponsored by Collins Limited, Agro Chemicals, Roberts Manufacturing and Kingdom Pets.

Dog owners who wish to participate are asked to contact the Animal Control Centre at telephone numbers 425-1033 or 425-5559.??
