Community Impact Programmes Being Offered

Barbadians are being offered yet another opportunity to learn a new skill.

Persons in St. Michael and surrounding areas are encouraged to sign up for a number of community impact programmes being offered in St. Michael by the Community Development Department of the Ministry of Social Care, Constituency Empowerment and Community Development.

The Bayville Community Centre will offer Pattern Making on Tuesdays from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.; Beauty Therapy on Wednesdays from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. and Customer Service also on Wednesdays from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m.

Meanwhile, at the at the Emmerton Community Centre, Cake and Pastry Making will be taught on Mondays from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.; Bar Operation and Table Etiquette on Fridays from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. and Golden Circle has been designed for retired persons on Thursdays from 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.

SJPP To Close Early July 21

The Samuel Jackman Prescod Polytechnic (SJPP) has advised that it will close at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, July 21, to allow members of staff to attend a funeral service.

The public is asked to plan its business accordingly and any inconvenience caused is regretted.??The SJPP will re-open on Tuesday, July 22, at 8: 15 a.m.

Library Service To Hold Lecture

The National Library Service is focussing on Black History this month, and is marking the occasion with a lecture entitled: Women in the 1937 Rebellion on Monday, July 28, at the National Library Service, Fairchild Street, Bridgetown beginning at 7:00 p.m.

Noted historian, lecturer and author Dr. Henderson Carter, will be the featured speaker while opening remarks will be given by the Director of Commission of Pan African Affairs, Dr. Deryck Murray. All are invited to attend.
