Closure of Beach Near Discovery Bay Hotel
Members of the public are asked to note that the beach adjacent to the Discovery Bay Hotel, Holetown, St. James, will be closed from Tuesday, August 5, until Tuesday, October 21, to facilitate the completion of the Holetown Lagoon Fluidizer.
This closure is to prevent the risk of injury to members of the public during the ongoing construction work, which involves the removal of temporary granite. There is also the possibility of discolouration of the near shore. The work site will be barricaded and signs will be erected outlining the restricted zone.
In addition, pedestrians will be required to divert through Second Street, Holetown, St. James, when heading south along the beach, or via Access E when proceeding north.
The National Conservation Commission apologises for any inconvenience this closure may cause.
Theatre in Bridgetown Next Month
Theatre lovers will get an opportunity to see the island???s best dramatists in action, when the Ministry of Tourism teams up with the Barbados Chamber of Commerce and Industry to host Theatre Comes to Bridgetown, next month.
The event, themed Images of Hope ??? An HIV Perspective, will be held on Thursday, August 7, in the redeveloped Church Village Green, Bridgetown, at 6:30 p.m.
According to Tourism Development Officer and HIV Coordinator in the Ministry, Madge Dalrymple, the event is designed to raise awareness about HIV through the use of drama, and the importance of Historic Bridgetown to the island???s heritage tourism offerings.
During the show, there will be performances by Philip Eno, Toni-Ann Johnson, Zarah Warner, Simon Alleyne, Shay Best, Keisha Amory and Davian Alleyne.

Parking for Weekend Events
Persons attending the 40th Anniversary Crop Over Monarch in Concert on Friday, July 25, and Junior Kadooment on Saturday, July 26, have been advised that parking will be provided at a number of facilities.
Patrons of these events may park at the National Stadium, the grounds of the Netball Stadium and Village Gate. There will also be provisions for parking at the Combermere School, but members of the public are asked to note that this is paid parking.
They are also reminded that there is to be no parking or waiting on Codrington Road, Bush Hall Main Road, Waterford Road, Bow Road, or Butler???s Avenue. This policy extends to the footpath, and motorists will only be allowed to pick up and drop off passengers.
On both days, Codrington Road, from its junction with Stadium Road to its junction with Bush Hall Road, and Stadium Road, from its junction with Codrington Road to its junction with Bush Hall Main Road, will be closed to traffic. This road will be designated a one-way from Codrington Road to Bush Hall Road, for authorised vehicles only.
