BCC ORIENTATION SEMINAR FOR OVERSEAS COLLEGES AND UNIVERSITIES

First-timers entering colleges and universities in Canada, the United Kingdom and the United States, during the academic year 2013-2014, are invited to attend the Barbados Community College???s (BCC) pre-departure orientation on Friday, August 9.

This annual orientation, which is hosted by the BCC???s Counselling and Placement Centre, will take place in the Liberal Arts Auditorium, at the Howell???s Cross Road Institution, from 9:30 a.m.

Designed to assist persons in making the transition to an institution of higher learning overseas, it will also provide prospective students with a forum to make queries and receive information.

The orientation will cover areas such as socio-cultural adjustments, coping with homesickness, living on a college budget and safety issues.

Persons interested in attending the event are asked to call the Counselling and Placement Centre at the BCC at 426-3278 or 426-2858 Ext: 5254/5255 or 5295.

HEALTHIER HEART SPONSORED WALK POSTPONE

The St. Lucy Parish Independence Committee???s sponsored walk, Walking for a Healthier Heart, has been postponed, and will now take place on Saturday, August 24.

It was originally scheduled for Saturday, July 27, at 6:00 a.m., from North Stars to River Bay.

The Committee apologises for any inconvenience this may cause.

RANDAL PHILLIPS POLYCLINIC???S MONTHLY MEN???S MEETING

The ???Challenges of Eating Well??? will be the topic of the Randal Phillips Polyclinic???s upcoming monthly men???s health meeting, on Tuesday, August 6, beginning at 7:00 p.m. The session will take place in the Environmental Health Officers Room at the Polyclinic???s Oistins, Christ Church, location.

Nutritionist, Julian Rowe, will address a number of concerns, including: ???Does Healthy Eating Have to Be Expensive????, ???Do I Have to Cut Out All Sugar and Salt from My Diet???? and ???Can I Still Eat Out and Have Healthy Meals?
