OAS Call For Interpreters

The Organization of American States (OAS), in collaboration with the Ministry of Tourism and International Transport, is inviting all professional interpreters resident in Barbados to sit an interpretation exam next month.

The examination will be held on Friday, July 25, and all interpreters who are successful, will be included in the OAS???s roster of freelance interpreters whose services will be used at conferences organised by that entity in the region.

The applicants are reminded that the call for candidates is not an offer of employment.

Candidates must speak at least one of the OAS??? official languages (Spanish, English, French or Portuguese); be fluent in a second language; and have working knowledge in a source language that the interpreter understands perfectly.

The applicants??? r??sum??s should include the following information: language combinations, basic information such as the applicant???s date of birth, address and telephone number, the academic institution where the candidate pursued their language studies and the list of international conferences which the candidate has served as a simultaneous Interpreter over the past five years.

The r??sum??s must be emailed to mochoa@oas.org and epombo@oas.org, by Friday, June 27.??Those selected will be notified by Thursday, July 3, in order to write the examination in Bridgetown on Friday, July 25.
