Constituency Council To Launch Food Drive This Weekend

The St. Michael North West Constituency Council will launch a food drive on Saturday, June 21, to assist persons in the constituency who are experiencing financial challenges.

The drive, which aims to empower residents of the constituency and bring awareness to the public of the partnerships that can be forged between the Council and other organisations to assist persons during challenging economic times, will be launched at the Channell Supermarket in Black Rock, St. Michael, at 10:00 a.m.

Immediately following that launch, members of the Constituency Council will move to the Solo and Carlton Supermarkets respectively, also located in Black Rock, St. Michael, where they will conduct phases two and three of the food drive.??Shoppers are encouraged to give generously to this initiative.

BCC Readying The Community For The Workplace

The Counselling & Placement Centre of the Barbados Community College (BCC) is inviting members of the surrounding communities, including Tichbourne, The Ivy, Government Hill and Two Mile Hill, to participate in a two-day workshop on Thursday, July 3, and Friday, July, 4.

The sessions will run from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. daily and will focus on workplace readiness.??Among the areas to be covered are: confidence building, writing cover letters and r??sum??s, interview techniques, business etiquette, productivity and work ethics.

There is no cost attached to registering for the workshop and registration forms may be collected from the Counselling & Placement Centre at the BCC, located at ???The Eyrie???, Howell???s Cross Road, St. Michael.??They must be returned no later than Friday, June 27.

Public Lecture On The Probation Department

Members of the public are invited to attend a public lecture on Friday, June 27, in the Atrium Room at the Supreme Court Complex, White Park Road, St. Michael, beginning at 7:00 p.m.

The lecture entitled: The Relevance of the Probation Department in a Solution-Oriented Court System, will be delivered by Supreme Court Judge, Justice Randall Worrell.
