St. James Parish Show This Saturday

The St. James Parish Independence Committee will host its Parish Talent Show on Saturday, July 5.

It will be held at the Learning Centre, Orange Hill, St. James, at 6:30 p.m.

The five top performing acts at the show will represent St. James at the Northern Zone Spirit of the Nation Talent Show in September.??Admission is $5.00 for adults and $3.00 for children.

The St. Andrew Parish Independence Committee will host its Parish Talent Show on Saturday, July 5.??It will be held at The Alleyne School, Belleplaine, St. Andrew, at 6:30 p.m.

The five top performing acts at the show will represent St. Andrew at the Northern Zone Spirit of the Nation Talent Show in September.??The admission fee is $5.00.

OAS Competitive Examination For Translators

The Organization of American States (OAS), in collaboration with the Ministry of Tourism and International Transport, is inviting all professional translators resident in Barbados to sit a translation examination.

The examination will be held during the week of August 11-15. Those candidates who have passed the examination will be included in the OAS roster of freelance translators whose services will be used for translation services at conferences organised by them throughout the region.??The applicants are reminded that this call is not an offer of employment.

Applicants must speak at least one of the OAS??? official languages (Spanish, English, French or Portuguese) and be fluent in at least one of these three languages. They must also have at least five years experience as a professional translator, and a university degree or professional diploma in translation, languages, or related areas.

The applicants??? r??sum??s should include the following information: language combinations, basic information such as their date of birth, address and telephone number, the academic institution where they pursued language studies, and experience details in translation only.

The r??sum??s must be emailed to mocha@oas.org or mpalmer@oas.org, by Wednesday, July 30.??Those selected will be notified at least one week before the examination.
