Constituency Games Cancelled

The Community Development Community Games, an inaugural event which was designed to introduce new athletes to the 13th Annual National Senior Games, will not take place this year.

This was revealed in a statement today from the Ministry of Social Care, Constituency Empowerment and Community Development, which said that the Community component, which was scheduled for March 29 and April 5, had been cancelled.

However, persons who registered for the Community Games will be allowed to participate in the Track and Field Finals, scheduled for Saturday, April 26, and Sunday, April 27, at the National Stadium.

Additional information on the Finals, as well as the 5k Road Race, archery, netball, tennis, table tennis and cycling competitions may be obtained by contacting the Ministry at 310-1600.

Farmers??? Market In Six Roads

Persons interested in selling fruit, vegetables, plants, wines, jewellery and other local products will get the opportunity to do so, when the Ministry of Agriculture???s Market Division holds its inaugural Farmers??? Market next month.

It will take place at the Six Roads Public Market, Six Roads, St. Philip, on Saturday, April 26, from 7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.

NDU Panel Discussion On Thursday

Members of the public should get a better understanding of the needs and concerns of persons with disabilities when the National Disabilities Unit hosts a panel discussion, this Thursday, March 27.

Entitled Mobilizing, Embracing, Empowering Persons with Disabilities, it will be held at The St. Michael School, Martindale???s Road, St. Michael, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.

Panellists will be National Human Rights Officer , Michelle Brathwaite; UNDP Programme Manager, Ian King; Care Giver, Felicia Inniss; member of the New Life Deaf Club, Lionel Smith; and Fire Officer, Patrick Edwards.
