Fair Trading Commission To Hold Outreach Event

Members of the public are being encouraged to share their views with officers of the Fair Trading Commission (FTC) on the existing Standards of Service for the Barbados Light & Power and the landline services of Cable & Wireless.

Staff will be upstairs at the Colonnade Mall in Bridgetown on Friday, November 15, from 11:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. to answer any questions or queries relating to the Standards of Service.

NCC To Host Farmers & Plant Propagation Workshop

Members of the public are invited to attend a Farmer???s Market and Plant Propagation Workshop on Saturday, November 23, at the National Conservation Commission???s Codrington, St. Michael, headquarters.

The Farmer???s Market will run from 7:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m., while the Plant Propagation Workshop will run from 10:00 a.m. until noon.

The Farmer???s Market will provide a range of benefits for producers, consumers, the environment, the nearby community and the economy.

Those benefits include a secure and regular market outlet for producers; direct contact and feedback for customers and producers, enabling customers to know exactly how their vegetables are grown; a reduction in packaging, resulting in less waste going to the landfill; and ???bringing communities to life???.

Meanwhile, all those attending the workshop will have an opportunity to see basic methods and tools that could be used in the process of plant propagation.

Edgar Cochrane Polyclinic???s Health Fair

The Edgar Cochrane Polyclinic will be joining in the celebrations for World Diabetes Day on Thursday, November 14, when it hosts a health fair at its Wildey, St. Michael location from 9:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m.

Its aim is to increase public awareness about diabetes. There will be health talks by nutritionists, podiatrists and ophthalmologists, in addition to blood pressure, blood sugar and cholesterol checks, foot screening and line dancing. Healthy foods and books will also be on sale.
