St. George South Residents Invited To Learn First Aid

Persons living in the St. George South Constituency are being invited to learn how to administer first aid.

The Education and Special Projects Committee of that Constituency Council is organising a series of workshops on Basic First Aid, the first of which will commence on Saturday, December 6, at the Ellerton Community Centre from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Registration forms are available from the Ellerton Community Centre on Mondays or Fridays between the hours of 9:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m.

St. James North Constituency Council To Host Activities

The St. James North Constituency Council will host two activities during the month of November for residents in that area.??The first will be a bulk waste collection project, which is being done in collaboration with B???s Recycling on Saturday, November 22.

Trucks are scheduled to leave the Weston Resource Centre and travel north as far as Ashton Hall and the Whim, St. Peter, and south as far as Greenwich Village and Trents, St. James.

These residents, as well as those in Rock Dundo, Carlton, Sion Hill and Mount Standfast, are encouraged to place their old fridges, stoves and other appliances in an appropriate place for collection.

There will also be a Community Independence Fair on Saturday, November 29, at RTR Bar, the Garden, St. James, beginning at 9:00 a.m. Activities will include a domino competition and karaoke. Bajan delicacies such as conkies, fish cakes and local drinks will also be available.

Secondary School To Receive Agricultural Prize

Daryll Jordan Secondary School is continuing to be recognised for good work in the field of agriculture.

The school, which two years ago won the Agrofest Kitchen Garden Competition, will be among the top awardees, when The Royal Commonwealth Society hosts a ceremony on Friday, November 7, for winners of the Sir Clifford Husbands Agricultural Competition.

The ceremony will be held on the grounds of Ilaro Court, Two Mile Hill, St. Michael, from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. The school will be awarded for its winning project Solar Oasis.

Parliamentary Secretary in the Ministry of Education, Science, Technology and Innovation, Senator Harry Husbands, will deliver remarks at the start of the event, at 10:00 a.m.
