INTERNATIONAL CIVIL AVIATION DAY EXTRAVAGANZA

The Ministry of Tourism has teamed up with the Barbados Light Aeroplane Club to host an extravaganza in recognition of International Civil Aviation Day, which is observed around the world on Saturday, December 7.

Under the theme: Evolving to Meet the Challenges of 21st Century Air Transport, the event will be held at the Light Aeroplane Club, on the South Ramp of the Grantley Adams International Airport, Seawell, Christ Church, starting at 10:00 a.m.

During the whole-day event, patrons will be treated to displays by the Barbados Fire Service, displays of scale models, flight simulators and aircraft on static. For the fitness enthusiasts, there will be a Zumba display as well as jumping tents and other activities for the children. Admission to the extravaganza is free.

The purpose of the global celebration is to create awareness of the significance of international civil aviation in the economic and social development of nations. The day is also designed to explain the role of the International Civil Aviation Organization in promoting the safety, efficacy and consistency of international air transport.??
