Special Q In The Community Next Week

A special Q in the Community event will be held to celebrate World AIDS Day.

It will come off next Monday, December 1, a public holiday, at 2:15 p.m., on the grounds of the Ministry of Social Care, Community Development and Constituency Empowerment, Warrens Office Complex, Warrens, St. Michael.

The activity is being hosted by the Ministry in collaboration with the National HIV/AIDS Commission.??Minister of Social Care, Steven Blackett, will give opening remarks.

There will also be a march by the HIV Education Committees, as well as HIV testing and general health checks.??Persons attending are asked to wear something red and bring food items for the HIV Food Bank.

Public Law Lectures Next Month

Members of the public are invited to attend two lectures hosted by the Improved Access to Justice in the Caribbean (IMPACT JUSTICE) Project, the Caribbean Law Institute Centre and the Supreme Court of Barbados, next month.

The first of these lectures entitled: The Mediation Imperative: The Benefits of the Courts and the Community, takes place on Thursday, December 11, at the Ralph Carnegie Lecture Theatre, Faculty of Law, University of the West Indies, Cave Hill Campus.

The second lecture will take place on Friday, December 12, at Solidarity House, Harmony Hall, St. Michael, and will focus on: Problem Solving through Community Mediation.

Both lectures begin at 7:30 p.m., and will be delivered by High Court Judge of the Eastern Caribbean Supreme Court and Chairman of the Court Connected Mediation Committee in St. Lucia, Justice Francis Belle.
