Cheerleading, Drill & Latin Dance Competitions

The National Sports Council (NSC) will host the annual Cheerleading, Drill Squad and Latin Dance Competition on Sunday, December 8, at the Wildey Gymnasium, starting at 3:00 p.m.

Competing are 15 primary, seven secondary and four nursery schools, along with three entries from tertiary institutions.??Five schools will participate in the Drill Squad Competition. Participants will also contend in the Youth, Juvenile and Junior categories of the Latin Dance Competition.

Tickets are available at the National Sports Council, Blenheim, My Lord???s Hill, St. Michael and from participating schools. All are invited to attend.

Road Tennis Tournament Heads To Christ Church And St. Michael

Road tennis fans will have many opportunities to witness Barbados??? indigenous game being played over the next few days.

This is because the preliminary stage of the Sports in the Community Inter-Parish Road Tennis Tournament, organised by the National Sports Council, will continue on Friday, November 29, at the Silver Hill Hard courts, Christ Church, starting at 7:00 p.m.

On Sunday, December 1, the competition will take place at Lexi???s Bar, Oistins, Christ Church at 6:30 p.m.

The road tennis tournament will then move to the Bush Hall hard courts, St. Michael on Wednesday, December 4 and Friday, December 6. Both games will start at 7:00 p.m. Admission is free.

Health and Wellness Day At Home Affairs

The Ministry of Home Affairs and the Office of the Attorney General, will stage a health and wellness day, tomorrow, Friday, November 29, at their headquarters, Jones Building, Webster Industrial Park, Wildey, St. Michael, from 10:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m.

There will be tests for diabetes and High Blood Pressure; and sessions on proper nutrition, and HIV/AIDS, plus an aerobics segment.

Featured presentations will form part of activities, with Director of the Barbados Family Association, George Griffith, examining family planning at 11:00 a.m., while Programme Officer at the National Council on Substance Abuse, Paulavette Atkinson, will speak about Illegal Drug Use at 1:30 p.m.
