More House-To-House Inspections on Saturday

Environmental Health Officers and Assistants from the Vector Control Unit will be continuing their weekend house-to-house inspections as well as a survey on Mosquito Control and Dengue Fever on Saturday, October 5, from 8:15 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

The inspections and survey will be conducted at the following St. Michael locations: Mahaica Gap, Lewis Gap, Storey Gap, Bow Road, Butlers Avenue, Paradise Gap, Chapel Gap, Syndicate Road, Stuart Road, Pioneer Road, Review Road, Bush Hall Yard Gap, Alleyne???s Land Nos. 1 to 3, Review Road, Accommodation Road and the environs.

Physically Challenged Exploring Entrepreneurial Development

An effort is currently on to assist physically challenged persons in the promotion of entrepreneurial development.

Through the Craft Unit of the Barbados Investment and Development Corporation, students and staff of the Christian Learning Clinic are getting the opportunity to explore their talents in the craft disciplines of stepping stones and jewelry.

Aimed at further enhancing their capabilities and skills as well as a means of developing an operational business activity within the institution, the classes which started last month, will run until Monday, October 14.

At the end of training an exhibition will be held featuring the students??? work. A short ceremony will also take place and certificates will be distributed to participants. All Officers will be wearing identification badges and members of the public are urged to co-operate during this exercise.

Church Service To Mark World Post Day

The Barbados Postal Service will join organisations worldwide in celebrating World Post Day on Wednesday, October 9.

Local celebrations will take the form of a church service at the Hawthorn Memorial Methodist Church, Worthing, Christ Church, on Sunday, October 6, beginning at 9:00 a.m.

World Post Day is celebrated annually to mark the anniversary of the establishment of the Universal Postal Union in 1874 in the Swiss capital of Berne.

The day was established to create awareness of the role the postal sector played in the lives of people and their businesses, and its contribution to the socio-economic development of countries.
