Kicking Stigma And Discrimination Away

The Community Development Department, in collaboration with the St. George HIV/AIDS Education Committee, will host a free community health fair and variety concert at the Sheffield Playing Field, Lower Estate, St. George, on Saturday, November 8, beginning at 3:00 p.m.

Entitled: Kick Stigma and Discrimination Away, this event will feature a mini-football tournament at 3:00 p.m., and a concert, which begins at 7:00 p.m.

Entertainment will be provided by John King, Serenader, the St. George Steel Orchestra, Double Laff Theatre and more.

There will also be free HIV testing and other health checks, as well as a jumping tent for children and giveaways.??Persons are encouraged to bring a non-perishable food item to donate to the HIV Food Bank.

TVET Lecture Wednesday, November 5

As part of its 20th anniversary celebrations, the Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) Council is inviting members of the public to a lecture entitled: Repositioning TVET as the Engine for Economic Growth, on Wednesday, November 5, at the Lloyd Erskine Sandiford Centre, at 7:00 p.m.

The lecture will address what is being done to reform Barbados’ education and training system, and will be delivered by Senior Specialist for Skills and Employment at the International Labour Organisation Caribbean, Dr. Hassan Ndahi. The public is invited.
