Fun Walk and Health Extravaganza This Saturday

Members of the public are being encouraged to participate in The Productivity Council???s Fun Walk and Health Extravaganza this Saturday, October 12.

The walk will commence at the Baobab Tower, Warrens, St. Michael, at 6:00 a.m. and end at Browne???s Beach, Bay Street, St. Michael, where the health fair will be held.

Registration for the walk is ongoing and those interested in participating should immediately call the Council at 626-9416. Part of the proceeds from the registration will go towards the HIV Food Bank.

At the extravaganza, the public will receive several health checks, including those for blood sugar and pressure; and will learn how to maintain healthy lifestyles. There will also be several fitness routines for patrons, namely tai chi, Zumba and line dancing, while face painting and jumping tents will be available for children. In addition, there will be live DJ music and a special appearance by calypsonian Mr. Dale.

The Productivity Council is currently celebrating its 20th anniversary under the theme, Securing Prosperity Through Productivity, and will host a number of activities during the month.

The Council is an agency designed to help Barbadian and Caribbean businesses develop their competitiveness through the application of productivity enhancement solutions.

BAC???S Approval Workshop at Radisson Aquatica Hotel

Educational institutions interested in understanding the process of approval required by the Barbados Accreditation Council (BAC) should attend the upcoming Programme Approval workshop on Tuesday, October 29, at Radisson Aquatica Hotel (formerly Grand Barbados).

The workshop, entitled: Preparing for Programme Approval, will run from 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

The programme aims to orient participants to the Programme Approval process; equip them with the skills and expertise to accurately complete the application for programme approval; assist participants in developing programme specifications and enhance the quality of the educational provisions.

Stats Month Celebrations To Begin This Sunday

Stats Month will be observed in Barbados from October 13 to November 9, and a number of activities are being planned to celebrate the occasion.

Staff of the Barbados Statistical Service (BSS) will gather at the New Dimensions Ministries, The Transformation Centre, Barbarees Hill, St. Michael, for a church service on Sunday, October 13, starting at 8:00 a.m.

On Friday, November 1, there will be a Health Expo for the public at the BSS, 5th Floor, Baobab Tower, St. Michael, beginning at 9:00 a.m. During the day, there will also be health checks and lectures on prostate and cervical cancer.

The work of the BSS will be showcased during an Open Day for secondary school children on Friday, November 8, at the BSS??? Warrens Office, beginning at 9:30 a.m. The following day, Saturday, November 9, the staff will be celebrated during a reception and awards ceremony at Mahogany Ridge, Plum Tree Road, St. Thomas.

Some of the other activities being proposed during the month are a hike and picnic for the staff, family and friends of the BSS, as well as lunch time lectures.??
