Meeting for HIV and AIDS Education Committees

There will be a general meeting for all HIV/AIDS Education Committees on Saturday, October 25, in Lecture Theatre 1, 1st Floor, Warrens Office Complex, Warrens, St. Michael, at 4:00 p.m.

Persons who are currently serving or have served within the last year on the following committees are invited: St. Lucy, St. Andrew, Sion Hill, St. James; St. Thomas, St. Peter, St. Philip, St. Joseph, St. John, St. George, Bonnetts, Brittons Hill, Grazettes, Haggatt Hall, Deacons, Black Rock, Waterford, Silver Sands, Sargeant???s Village, Vauxhall and the Ivy.

Workshop for Persons with Disabilities this Thursday

Persons with disabilities are invited to attend a workshop later this week to learn various methods of coping with their particular challenges.

It is being held by the National Disabilities Unit this Thursday, October 9, at the Valley Resource Centre, Valley, St. George, from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

The theme for the day is Mobilise, Embrace and Empower Persons with Disabilities, and aims to educate participants on a number of issues, including self-esteem, adjusting to blindness, living with diabetes, taking care of the feet, stigma and discrimination.

Chikungunya Sensitisation Efforts Continue

The Ministry of Health continues its public awareness programme on the chikungunya virus and how it can be prevented, this Saturday, October 11, in St. Andrew.

Health officers will conduct a walk-through, in collaboration with the St. Andrew Constituency Council, the Parish Ambassadors and the District Emergency Organisation, in Rock Hall, Bawdens and Walkers, from 8:30 a.m. to noon. Residents are asked to cooperate with the team from the Ministry of Health.
